Battler gives Matsumoto double

The Procyon Stakes(g3) was won at Kyoto by Meisho Battler, who gave his owner Matsumoto the double on the day. About 10 minutes earlier, Meisho Kaido owned by Matsumoto triumphed the g3 Tanabata Sho at Fukushima.
Meisho Battler, with Tetsuzo Sato up, won the Kyoto feature in 1 minute 22 seconds over 1,400 meters on dirt. A 2 1/2-length behind the winner, Seeking the Best ran second, finishing a 1 1/2-length better than third-placed Sunrise King.

“I had him race at a good position without rush. All I think was to make the most of what he has. My mount went very well exactly what I wanted.”, said Sato.
