Admire Aura wins Shinzan

Admire Aura won the Shinzan Kinen(G3) for 3-year-olds Monday afternoon at Kyoto to get revenge for his defeat of the Chukyo Nisai Stakes in which he finished second to Daiwa Scarlet.
Yasunari Iwata-steered Admire Aura raced right behind Daiwa Scarlet early on, and then the two dueled briefly in the stretch before Admire Aura sprinted into front for a 1 1/2-length victory. Laurel Guerreiro finished a 2 1/2-length behind second-placed Daiwa Scarlet in third for the 10-horse field. The final time for the 1,600 meters on turf was 1 minute 35.1 seconds. Admire Aura is a son of Agnes Tachyon out of the Caerleon mare Biwa Heidi.

Three Avenue takes Garnet Stakes

Third favorite Three Avenue powered his way to home first in the Garnet Stakes(G3), a Sunday feature for Nakayama meeting, by getting past Limitless Bid and Nishino Con Safos near the line. Second, a 1/2-length behind, was Limitless Bid with another nose back Nishino Con Safos third in the field of 16 runners. Katsuharu Tanaka rode the second grade winner in two days. The winner timed in 1 minute 10 seconds having traveled over 1,200 meters on dirt. Three Avenue is a 5-year-old horse by Afleet out of the Tosho Boy mare Energy Tosho.

Easy victory for Shadow Gate in Nakayama

It was an overwhelming victory of the Nakayama Kimpai(g3) Saturday afternoon when Shadow Gate galloped home in the rain-soaked Nakayama Racecourse. He beat Asaka Defeat by a commanding 7-length with Black Tide finishing another 1/2-length back in third.
Shadow Gate is a 5-year-old horse by White Muzzle out of the Sunday Silence mare Fabulous Turn.

Scherzi leads all the way in Kyoto

The Kyoto Kimpai(g3) was won Saturday afternoon by Meiner Scherzi, who led all the way and got home a 1 1/4-length ahead of second-placed Eishin Dover(USA). Trained by Ryuichi Inaba, Meiner Scherzi is a 4-year-old colt by Grass Wonder out of the Machiavellian mare Aladeya.

Black Tide tops Nakayama Kimpai

Black Tide, a full brother to Deep Impact, could be ready for his best run when he faces the 15 rivals in the Nakayama Kimpai(G3), a feature of Nakayama Saturday meeting. Coming into the grade three handicap, the 6-year-old horse has shown solid runs at grade level. He drew post 12 with Hiroki Goto on his back for the first time. The main oppositions could be Tosho Scirocco(post 13), Mayano Raijin(post 14) and One More Chatter(post 16).

2007 season kicks off

JRA 2007 season kicks off on Saturday. A feature for the opening day at Nakayama will be the Nakayama Kimpai(G3) for which 25 four-year-olds and upward have been nominated. On the same day, Kyoto features the Kyoto Kimpai(G3) with a total of 45 nominations.
