Wire-to-wire victory for Captain Thule in Satsuki


Seventh favorite Captain Thule went a wire-to-wire on the Nakayama 2,000-meter main course, winning the Satsuki Sho by a 2 1/2-length from Ake Mikazuchi with another nose back favorite Meiner Charles third in the field of 18 colts.
Yuga Kawada pushed Captain Thule just off the gate and took a sole leading position before the first turn. The colt dominated the pace throughout the race to get home in 2 minute 1.70 seconds for the winning time.

Field set for 20008 Satsuki Sho


A field of 18 three-year-old colts is set to run for the Satsuki Sho(Japanese 2000 Guineas) to be run at Nakayama on Sunday, April 20, 2008. It looks like a wide-open contest. The field for the 2,000-meter grade one is as follows:
