Outsider wins NHK Mile Cup

The 39.8 10th favorite Jo Cappuccino, ridden by Kota Fujioka, produced the career best run to win the NHK Mile Cup at Tokyo on Sunday. The Manhattan Cafe gray colt was a 2-length better than Red Spada when he got home in 1 minute 32.40 seconds after running over the 1,600-meter Tokyo main course.

Fujioka held Jo Cappuccino at the sole second position, running a several length behind the leader. Another several lengths back, the big pack of the runners followed.

Outside 200 meters from home, Jo Cappuccino advanced into the front. From the point, Fujioka's hands slightly moved on the colt's neck. Once the jockey pushed hard, Jo Cappuccino just broke away from the rest.
