Grand Prix Boss takes NHK Mile Cup


Race favorite Grand Prix Boss came home a winner of the 2011 NHK Mile Cup this afternoon at Tokyo. Given a perfect ride by Australian jockey Craig Williams, Grand Prix Boss won the grade one 1,600 meters in 1 minute 32.20 seconds by a 1 1/2-length from second favorite Cotillion. Third was, another 3/4-length behind, Real Impact with Eishin Osman fourth.

At around 200 meters from home, Grand Prix Boss just split horses on the middle, pulling away from the rest on his way to the winning post.

This was Grand Prix Boss' second g1 victory and his fourth win in 7 starts with 235+ million jp yen in career earnings. Bred by Northern Racing, Grand Prix Boss by Sakura Bakushin out of the Sunday Silence mare Rosy Mist races for trainer Y. Yahagi and owner Grand Prix Co. Ltd.
