Curren Chan Wins Sprinters Stakes
Curren Chan, ridden by Kenichi Ikezoe, won the Sprinters Stakes on Sunday afternoon by making a quick turn of foot down the Nakayama stretch. The 4-year-old filly won the grade one 1,200-meter in 1 minute 7.40 seconds on firm ground.
Second was, a 1 3/4-length behind the winner, Pas de Trois with another nose back A Shin Virgo third. Race favorite Rocket Man(AUS), another 1/2-length further away, finished fourth followed by Lucky Nine(IRE) fifth.
The field was reduced to 15 because of Be Be Guldan's scratch.
Curren Chan has enjoyed 2011 season with 5 victories in 6 starts. Coming into the Sprinters Stakes, she had the three grade stakes victories.
The Kurofune gray filly out of the Tony Bin mare Spring Ticket has now won 8 in 12 career starts with 297 million jp yen in career earnings.
