Eishin Apollon takes Mile Championship

Kenichi Ikezoe-piloted Eishin Apollon(USA) took the Mile Championship this afternoon at Kyoto in 1 minute 33.90 seconds on good ground. Fifth Petal was, a neck behind, second with Sahpresa(USA) finishing another 1 1/2-length back in third. Race favorite Real Impact finished fifth. Immortal Verse(IRE) got seventh.

Eishin Apollon finished strongly having taken a good position in the early stage. Before getting to the winning post, he had to deny the challenge of Fifth Petal.

It was the fourth victory in 14 starts for Eishin Apollon, whose career earnings boosted to 289+ million jp yen for owner T. Hirai and trainer M. Matsunaga. Silk and Scarlet Syndicate was the breeder of Eishin Apollon, a 4-year-old bay colt by Giant's Causeway out of the Sadler's Wells mare Silk and Scarlet.
