Stage Set For Japanese Oaks

The stage is set for the Yushun Himba(known as the Japanese Oaks).

The key prep is the Oka Sho(Japanese 1000 Guineas). The last two Oaks winners were not run in the Oka Sho, but seven of the last 10 winners came from the first filly classic.

Gentildonna beat Verxina by a 1/2-length in a thrilling finish of the Oka Sho in an early April. The two will have no trouble staying a 2,400-meter Oaks distance and are likely the main contenders. I'm Yours, who ran third, a 1/2-length behind Verxina, in the Oka Sho, could finish in a reverse order.
