In the absence of Japanese Derby winner Deep Brillante, Gold Ship, winner of the Satsuki Sho(Japanese 2000 Guineas) tops the field of 18 colts for the grade one 3,000-meter race at Kyoto. He has a good momentum off an impressive victory in the Kobe Shimbun Hai on September 23.
The main oppositions to Gold Ship are likely to be Mount Shasta and Sky Dignity.
