Gold Ship gains second classic victory

Gold Ship gained the second classic victory of the year when he won the Kikuka Sho(Japanese St.Leger), the last leg of the Triple Crown Races for 3-year-olds. He beat Sky Dignity by a 1 3/4-length with Yuki Soldier another 2-length away third.

A glorious day at Kyoto, the 18 colts went to post on time. Gold Ship broke well but was dead last in the early race. Gold Ship, the red-hot favorite, was on the early and great move before the third corner for the second time. By the time the field turned for home, the gray colt was in
front. From there, he was never behind en route to winning the 3,000-meter classic in 3 minutes 2.90 seconds.

Trained by N. Sugai, Gold Ship has now won six of his nine races. His career earnings brought to 436+ million jp yen.

Gold Ship, owned and bred by E. Kobayashi, is a 3-year-old colt by Stay Gold out of the Mejiro McQueen mare Point Flag.
