Lord Kanaloa gains third g1 sprint

Lord Kanaloa gained his third grade one sprint in the last six months when he won the Takamatsunomiya Kinen this afternoon in record time. Yasunari Iwata was aboard on the winner to complete the 1,200-meter turf distance in 1 minute 8.10 seconds.

Having taken up the running from the start, Hakusan Moon hung on tough with 200 meters to go, but Lord Kanaloa came with a strong stride on the middle, and he got into the winning post, a 1 1/4-length ahead of Dream Valentino with another nose back Hakusan Moon third place.

Lord Kanaloa, by King Kamehameha out of the Storm Cat mare Lady Blossom, has now won 10 in 15 career starts with 530+ million jpn yen in career earnings. Trained by T. Yasuda and owned by Lord Horse Club, he was bred by K.I.Farm.

Lord Kanaloa likely favorite for Takamatsunomiya

The likely favorite for the 2013 Takamatsunomiya Kinen will be Lord Kanaloa, an impressive victor in a pair of grade one events(the Sprinters Stakes and the Hong Kong Sprint) last season. He got off to a good start in 2013 season when he won the Hankyu Hai on February 24. He will break from post 11.

Gentildonna final workout before leaving Japan

Right before travelling to Dubai, Gentildonna had a final workout at Ritto Training Center on March 20. She is scheduled to leave Japan for Dubai on March 22 to run in the March 30 Dubai Sheema Classic at Meydan.
