Harp Star wins Oka Sho by come-from-behind style

Yuga Kawada-ridden Harp Star came from far behind as she pulled away to win the Oka Sho(Japanese 1000 Guineas) by a neck on Sunday at Hanshin. Red Reveur finished second with Nuovo Record another 3/4-length back in third.

Harp Star was dead last as the field came into the stretch. "We took the last position as usual and I tried to have her run rhythmically.", Kawada said. With production of the fastest finish, Harp Star made up grounds as she ran on the far outside in the last 400 meters.

Trained by H. Matsuda and owned by Carrot Farm, Harp Star has now won 4 of her races. The Oka Sho 117+ million jp yen first prize brought her career earnings to 216+ million jp yen. The Deep Impact filly out of the Falbrav mare Historic Star was bred by Northern Farm.
