Red Alvis romps Unicorn S

Red Alvis romped the grade three Unicorn Stakes this afternoon at Tokyo.

In the hands of Masayashi Ebina, Red Alvis traveled very smoothly, taking up the running in the mid-stretch and increased his lead to a few lengths on his way to winning the 1.600-meter dirt race in 1 minute 36 seconds. Corin Berry finished a 2 1/2-length behind the winner in second with another neck away Bang Zoom third.

1.3(3/10) favorite Asia Express was never into contention to finish 12th in the field of 16.

Red Alvis, a 3-year-old Gold Allure colt out of the Grindstone mare Charleston Harbor, is trained by T. Yasuda and owned by TokyoHorseRacing. Northern Racing was the bay colt's breeder.
