Toho Amapola takes CBC Sho

Toho Amapola stalked the leading pack and outran Epice Arome in the late stage to win the CBC Sho Sunday afternoon. Yuichi Fukunaga was aboard the winner to complete the 1,200-meter trip in 1 minute 8.60 seconds on Chukyo firm ground. Epice Arome finished second, a 1 1/4-length before Ninja, who ran third.
Race favorite Bel Canto led the field until the 200-meter pole, but she was not able to find any extra speed to finish fifth.

Trained by R. Takahashi, Toho Amapola has now won six in her 18 starts. A 5-year-old daughter of Fuji Kiseki out of the Unbridled's Song mare Toho Gaia, Toho Amapola was bred by Toho Bussan Co. Ltd., which also owns her.
