Queen Stakes preview

A field is set to run for Sunday's grade three Queen Stakes at Sapporo. The 14 fillies and mares will go to post for the 1,800-meter contest at 3:25 p.m. JST on Sunday, Aug. 3.

Smart Layer returned to this season with a couple of victories at grade level and may find a good spot after failing to produce the desired result at g1 event last outing. In absence of Yutaka Take, Kenichi Ikezoe will ride.

Dia de la Madre showed good form with the g3 Mermaid Stakes victory last time out. Reproduction of that run could see her go close to the line.

Aromatico showed a return to good form when winning the Tomoe Sho last time out and could produce another big run.

Quatre Feuilles has recorded a couple of runner-ups at grade races and could spot a good chance here after  finishing a respectable fifth in the g1 Victoria Mile.

Otsu comes here with three consecutive victories and will step up the class to have a testing contest.
