Sambista romps Breeders' Gold C

Second favorite Sambista romped home in the Breeders' Gold Cup at Mombetsu Thursday night. Yasunari Iwata rode the winning horse to complete the 2,000-meter distance in 2 minutes 7.40 seconds on good track.
A 3-length behind the winner, race favorite Wild Flapper was second with fourth favorite Machan Tamer another neck away third in the field of 14 fillies and mares.

Sambista left Wild Flapper behind in the closing stage after they were in a brief neck-and-neck battle.

Bred by Grand Stud and trained at JRA Ritto by K. Sumii, Sambista is a 5-year-old dark bay mare by Suzuka Mambo out of the Misil mare White Carnival. She has now won six in 16 career starts.
