Hokko Tarumae easy win Tokyo Daishoten


Hokko Tarumae, the 1.7(7-10) favorite in a 16-horse field, won the Tokyo Daishoten, NAR's biggest race, for two years in a row. Hideaki Miyuki rode the winner to complete the 2,000-meter distance in 2 minutes 3.00 seconds on Ohi dirt track. 
Hokko Tarumae stalked the pace by Copano Rickey, and then he cantered away from the rest with 200 meters to go before getting up into the winning post, a 4-length ahead of Copano Rickey. Summit Stone finished third, another 1 1/2-length away with Happy Sprint fourth and Roman Legend fifth.

Trained at JRA by K. Nishiura and owned by M. Yabe, Hokko Tarumae has race 28 times and registered 14 wins of them. Ichikawa Farm was the breeder of the 5-year-old horse by King Kamehameha out of the Cherokee Run mare Madam Cherokee.

Gentildonna wins Arima in farewell


Gentildonna won the Arima Kinen this afternoon at Nakayama Race Course to round off her glorious racing career. 
Outside 100 meters to go, JRA leading jockey Keita Tosaki forced Gentildonna to go in front by getting past Epiphaneia. To the World, Gold Ship and Just a Way were seen in the very final stage, but they never threated Gentildonna.
Gentildonna won by a 3/4-length from To the World with Gold Ship, another nose away third. Another neck away Just a Way got fourth followed by Epiphaneia another nose further back fifth. The final time was 2 minutes 35.30 seconds for the 2,500-meter distance.

More than 110,000 people turned up at Nakayama on the Arima Kinen day.

In her four active seasons, Gentildonna has raced 19 times under the saddle of Sei Ishizaka and the color of Sunday Racing Co. Ltd. She won 10 of them including seven grade/group races with more than 1.7 billion jpn yen in career earnings. Northern Racing was the breeder of Gentildonna, a 5-year-old bay mare by Deep Impact out of the Bertolini mare Donna Blini. 


Shinning Lei takes Hopeful Stakes
Before the Arima Kinen, the grade two Hopeful Stakes for 2-year-olds was run over 2,000 meters at Nakayama. Shinning Lei won it under Yuga Kawada by a 1 1/4-length from Komet with Black Bago another nose away third. The final time was 2 minutes 1.90 seconds.
Shining Lei is a 2-year-old colt by Deep Impact out of the Kurofune mare Shells Lei.

Gold Ship favorite for Arima Kinen


As of Saturday, Gold Ship has been installed as the 4.0(3-1) favorite for the Arima Kinen. Just a Way was the 4.7(37-10) second favorite. Epiphaneia was the 5.1(41-10) third favorite with Gentildonna 7.9(69-10) fourth favorite.

The post time for the Arima Kinen(known as the Grind Prix) will be at 3:25 p.m. JST on Sunday, December 28, 2014.

Real Impact second victory of Hanshin Cup


Real Impact won the grade two Handhin Cup for two consecutive years this afternoon at Hanshin Race Course. Real Impact beat Copano Richard by a nose in a head-to-head battle. Daiwa Maggiore finished anothe neck away in third. William Buick rode the winner to travel the 1,400-meter distance in 1 minute 20.70 seconds.
Real Impact is a 6-year-old bay horse by Deep Impact out of Tokio Reality, by Meadowlake.

Stage set for 2014 Arima Kinen


A strong field for the Arima Kinen has been drawn. A total of 16 horses have been entered to the season-ending big race at Nakayama.

Gold Ship, who skipped the Japan Cup after the Arc de Triomphe, had a good peice of workout on Wednesday, running a 800-meter in 52.10 seconds on hill course at Ritto. He drew post 14.
Gentildonna, multiple grade one winner who will make a first run at Nakayama, worked a 800-meter in 54.50 seconds at Ritto hill course on Wednesday. This Sunday will be her final appearance on the course before retirement. She drew post 4.  
Japan Cup hero Epiphaneia galloped a 1,200-meter in 81.10 second at Ritto CW course on Wednesday. He drew post 13.
Just a Way had a final workout for the Arima on Wednesday, covering a 800-meter in 54.90 seconds at Ritto hill course. The Arima will be his farewell race to end his glorious career. He drew post 15.

2014 Arima Kinen nominations


A total of 21 horses have been nominated to the Arima Kinen to be run on December 28 at Nakayama Race Course. The nominations include Gentildonna and Just a Way, both whom will run in the Arima as a farewell race.

On the next day of the Arima Kinen, Ohi Race Track hosts the NAR grade one Tokyo Daishoten to which a total of 16 horses have been nominated. The nomination includes US-trained Soi Phet.

Danon Platina wins Futurity Stakes as favorite


Danon Platina came from far behind to win the Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes as favorite under Masayoshi Ebina at Hanshin on Sunday. The Deep Impact colt covered the 1,600-meter trip in 1 minute 35.90 seconds on good ground.
Arma Waioli, a 3/4-length behind, took second with anothe 3/4-length further back Clarity Sky third in the field of 18 2-year-old colts.

Trained by S. Kunieda and owned by Danox Co. Ltd., Danon Platina has now won three in four starts with more than 89 million jpn yen. Chiyoda Farm was the breeder of Danon Platina out of Badeelah by Unbridled's Song.

Dia de la Madre takes Aichi Hai


Dia de la Madre squeezed between horses on the middle in the very final stage to win  Saturday's Aichi Hai at Chukyo. Kota Fujioka rode the winner to cover the 2,000-meter distance in 2 minutes 4.40 seconds.
A length behind, Quartre Feuilles came second with another 1/2-length back Sweet Salsa third.
Dia de la Madre is a 4-year-old filly by King Kamehameha out of the Sunday Silence mare Dia de la Novia.

A total of 18 two-year-old colts assemble for the grade one Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes, which looks like a wide-open contest.
Danon Platina, coming off two straight victories, breaks from post 2. Ash Gold, second in the Daily Hai Nisai Stakes, has post 9.  Bright Emblem, winner of the grade three Sapporo Nisai Stakes, breaks from post 16. Clarity Sky, winner of the Icho Stakes, has post 14.

Shonan Adela sensational late surge in Hanshin JF


Shonan Adela produced a sensational late stride to win the Hanshin Juvenile Fillies Sunday afternoon at Hanshin Race Course. 
Let's Go Donki and Kokorono Ai fought out for the lead, but Shonan Adela got past them near the line in the blink of an eye .
Masayoshi Ebina was aboard the winner to cover the 1,600-meter distance in 1 minute 34.40 seconds on firm ground.
Let's Go Donki, a 1/2-length behind, took second with another 1/2-length further back 
Kokorono Ai third in the field of 18.

Trained by Y. Ninomiya and owned by T.Kunimoto, Shonan Adela has now won 3 in 4 career starts with more than 84 million jpn yen in career earnings.
Shimokobe Farm was the breeder of Shonan Adela, a 2-year-old bay filly by Deep Impact out of the Elusive Quality mare Always Willing.


Danon Legend(USA) romps Capella S
Danon Legend(USA) led the field and was never behind in a 1,200-meter dirt trip to win the grade three Capella Stakes Sunday afternoon at Nakayama. Kyosuke Maruta rode the winner with the final time of 1 minute 9.50 seconds. 
A 5-length behind, Satono Tiger got second with another head away Meisho Nobel third.

Tosen Stardom won the grade three Challenge Cup at Hanshin on Saturday afternoon. Yutaka Take rode the winner to complete the 1,800-meter distance in 1 minute 45.90 seconds on firm ground.
A neck behind, second was shared for a dead-heat betwee Deus Vult and Fluky.
A Shin Hikara slowed down in the final stage to finish a disappointing ninth.

Tosen Stardom is a 3-year-old colt by Deep Impact out of the End Sweep mare Admire Kirameki.

Hokko Tarumae takes Champions Cup


Hokko Tarumae stalked the pace to win the Champions Cup this afternoon at Chukyo Race Course. Hideaki Miyuki guided the winner to cover the 1,800-meter trip in 1 minute 51 seconds on fast.
With 400 meters to go, Hokko Tarumae took the lead and held off challenges by Namura Victor and Roman Legend.
A 1/2-length behind, Namura Victor finished second with another 3/4-length away Roman Legend third.

Trained at Ritto by K. Nishiura and owned by M. Yabe, Hokko Tarumae has now registered 13 wins in 27 career starts with more than 735 million jpn yen.

Ichikawa Farm was the breeder of Hokko Tarumae, a 5-year-old bay horse by King Kamehameha out of the Cherokee Run mare Madam Cherokee.

Desperado wins Stayers S two consecutive years


Desperado won the grade two 3,600-meter Stayers Stakes for two consecutive seasons this afternoon.
In the hands of Norihiro Yokoyama, the 6-year-old horse got past Fata Morgana near the line to get into the winning post in 3 minutes 47.80 seconds.
Fata Morgana came second, a 1/2-length behind, with Courir Kaiser another 1 3/4-length back third.
Desperado is a son of Neo Universe and Meine Noel, by Tony Bin.

Last Impact takes Kinko Sho in record time
Last Impact continued to show good form when he won the Kinko Sho in the course record of 1 minute 58.80 seconds at Chukyo Race Course. Yuga Kawada guided the winner.
Second was, a 1/2-length behind, Satono Noblesse with Air Saumur another 1/2-length away third.
Last Impact is a 4-year-old colt by Deep Impact out of the Timber Country mare Superior Pearl.

Field set for Champions Cup


A field is set to run in the Champions Cup on Sunday at Chukyo Race Course.

Copano Rickey, who has scored three grade one victories 2014 season including an impressive wire-to-wire victory in the JBC Classic on last outing, drew post 14.
Incantation, coming off three straight victories, drew post 15.
Roman Legend, winner of the Elm Stakes, drew post 12.
Chrysolite(second in JBC Classic) and Wonder Acute(third in JBC Classic) drew post 3 and 11 respectively.
Imperative(USA) to be ridden by Kent Desormeauz drew post 1.

The post time for the grade one 1,800-meter dirt race will be at 3:30 p.m. JST on Sunday, December 7, 2014.
