Epiphaneia retired
Epiphaneia, winner of the 2014 Japan Cup, has been retired from racing due to injury on his front left leg.
The 5-year-old horse by Symboli Kris S and Special Week mare Cesario won six in 14 career starts with more than 697 million jpn yen in career earnings. He will stud at Shadai Stallion Station.

Blanc Bonheur easy victory in Hakodate Nisai


Blanc Bonheur pulled away from the rest at around 100 meters from home to win the grade three Hakodate Nisai Stakes for 2-year-olds at Hakodate on Sunday. Yasunari Iwata guided the winner to a decisive 3 1/2-length victory in 1 minute 10.60 seconds over 1,200 meters on good ground. Major Typhoon came second, a neck better than third-placed Hilda.
Blanc Bonheur is a 2-year-old grey filly by Deep Impact out of the Sakura Bakushin O mare Le Sucre.

Smark Orion wins Chukyo Kinen
Smark Orion stalked the pace under Mirco Demuro to win the grade three 1,600-meter Chukyo Kinen for 3-year-olds and up in 1 minute 33.40 seconds on firm ground.
A neck behind, Alma Divin came second with another neck behind Dahlonega third.
Smart Orion is a 5-year-old chestnut horse by Grass Wonder out of Tropical Lady, by Winning Ticket.

Exciting finish in Hakodate Kinen


The grade three Hakodate Kinen was won in an exciting finish at Hakodate on Sunday by Derby Fizz, who beat Hagino Hybrid by a head. The two had a ding-dong battle in the last 100 meters.
Yamakatsu Ace came third, a 3 1/2-length behind Hagino Hybrid. Ridden by Yasunari Iwata, Derby Fizz covered the 2,000-meter distance in 1 minute 59.10 seconds on firm ground.
Derby Fizz is a 5-year-old chestnut horse by Jungle Pocker out of the Sunday Silence mare Manhattan Fizz.

Grandezza wins Tanaba Sho


Grandezza broke a losing streak when he won the grade three Tanaba Sho at Fukushima on Sunday. The 6-year-old horse took a good position under Yuga Kawada before winning the 2,000-meter Tanaba in 1 minute 58.20 seconds.
A 1 1/4-length behind, Stellar Wind came second with another 1/2-length away Madeira third.

Grandezza is a son of Agnes Tachyon and Marbye, by Marju.

Best Warrior(USA) takes Procyon Stakes
Best Warrior won the grade three Procyon Stakes in two consecutive years at Chukyo on Sunday as he beat Corin Berry by a 2-length. Kyowa Duffy got third, another neck back.
Yuichi Fukunaga was aboard Best Warrior to complete the 1,400-meter distance in 1 minute 22.50 seconds on fast track.

Best Warrior is a 5-year-old horse by Majestice Warrior out of the Mr. Greeley mare Flirtatious Miss.

A field is set to run in the grade three Tanaba Sho for 3-year-olds and up at Fukushima Race Course on Sunday. A total of 16 horses will compete the 2,000-meter handicap race.

Recondite, second in the grade two Meguro Kinen in late May, breaks from post 6. Grandezza, fifth in the Naruo Kinen, breaks from post 11. Alfredo, third in the Niigata Daishoten, breaks from post 2.

Nonkono Yume rallies in Japan Dirt Derby


Nonkono Yume, ridden by Christophe Lemaire, rallied on the stretch to win the NAR grade one Japan Dirt Derby for 3-year-olds at the muddy Ohi track on Wednesday. He won the 2,000-meter race in 2 minutes 5.60 seconds by a decisive 2 1/2-length from Cross Krieger, who led a field of 13. Another 5-length away, Lucky Prince came third.

"He is a very good horse. His late explosive power was great. He ran well at 2,000 meters in the same way he did at 1,600 meters.", Lemaire said.

Trained at JRA Miho by Y. Kato, Nonkono Yume has now registered fifth win in eight career starts. Nonkono Yume is a 3-year-old colt by Twining out of the Agnes Tachyon mare Nonko.

Field of 2015 Japan Dirt Derby


A field of 13 horses including six JRA runners is set to run in the NAR grade one Japan Dirt Derby for 3-year-olds at NAR Ohi track on Wednesday night.

Unicorn Stakes winner Nonkono Yume drew post 9, while Cross Krieger, winner of the NAR graded two Hyogo Championship, drew post 6.

The post time will be at 8:00 p.m. JST on Wednesday, July 8th.

Ambitious romps Radio Nikkei


Ambitious romped the grade three Radio Nikkei Sho for 3-year-olds at Fukushima on Sunday. Under the hands of Christophe Lemaire, Ambitious showed a commanding run in the last 200 meters to win the 1,800-meter race in 1 minute 46.40 seconds.
A 3 1/2-length behind, Musee Ghost came second with another 3/4-length back Maltese Apogee third.
Ambitious is a 3-year-old dark bay colt by Deep Impact out of the El Condor Pasa mare Carnival Song.

Uliuli wins CBC Sho
Uliuli took the inside path in the stretch to win the grade three CBC Sho on Sunday at Chukyo. Yasunari Iwata was aboard the winner to cover the 1,200-meter trip in 1 minute 9.10 seconds.
Dance Director came second, 1 1/2-length behind, with Sudden Storm finsihing another neck back in third.
Uliuli is a 5-year-old black mare by Deep Impact out of Wikiwiki, by French Duputy.

Ambitious, who skipped the Japanese Derby after winning the Principal Stakes, drew post 3. Realista, undefeated colt in two starts, drew post 5.
