Lord Quest romps Niigata Nisai


Lord Quest ran far off the pace to win the grade three Niigata Nisai Stakes for 2-year-ols at Niigata on Sunday. He won it by a decisive 4-length in 1 minute 33.80 seconds over 1,600 meters on good ground. The winning jockey was Hironobu Tanabe.
Win Fabuous finished second, a 2-length before Makoto Lumen.
Lord Quest is a 2-year-old bay colt by Matsurida Gogh out of the Chief Bearhart mare Matsurida Waltz.

Ukiyono Kaze wins Keeneland Cup
Ukiyono Kaze made headway to lead 200 meters out, winning the grade three Keeneland Cup at Sapporo on Sunday. Hirofumi Shii was aboard the winner to cover the 1,200-meter distance in 1 minute 8.60 seconds on firm ground.
Toho Amapola got, a 3/4-length behind, second, with Teehaff another 1/2-length back third.
Ukiyono Kaze is a 5-year-old dark bay mare by On Fire out of Admire Dash, by Fusaichi Concorde.

Decipher wins Sapporo in photo finish


Decipher won the grade two Sapporo Kinen under Hirofumi Shii in photo finish at Sapporo on Sunday. The 6-year-old horse took a lead in the stretch to win the 2,000-meter race in 1 minute 59 seconds. Hit the Target and Derby Fizz made a challenge, but it were not enough to catch him. Hit the Target got second, a head behind, with Derby Fizz finishing another head back in third.
Decipher is a son of Deep Impact and Mizna, by Dubai Millennium.


Bel Canto easy victory in Kitakyushu Kinen
Bel Canto, ridden by Yutaka Take, drew away from the rest in the stretch to win the Kitakyushu Kinen in 1 minute 7.30 seconds at Kokura on Sunday. A 1 1/2-length behind, Big Arthur took second with another 1/2-length back Belle Lumiere third.

Bel Canto is a 4-year-old chestnut filly by Sakura Bakushin O out of Celebrar, by Boston Harbor.

A field of 15 is set to run in the grade two Sapporo Kinen for 3yo+ at Sapporo on Sunday.

Toho Jackal, winner of the 2014 Kikuka Sho(Japanese St. Leger), makes his second start of the season after finishing fourth in the Takarazuka Kinen. He drew post 12.

Red Arion takes Sekiya


Red Arion took a clear lead going into the bend to win the grade three 1,600-meter Sekiya Kinen in 1 minute 32.60 seconds at Niigata on firm ground. The winning jockey was Haruhiko Kawasu.
Majesty Hearts finished second, a 3/4-length behind. Another 1/2-length behind, Young Man Power came third.
Red Arion is a 5-year-old bay horse by Agnes Tachyon out of Erimo Pixy, by Dancing Brave.

Jebel Musa wins Elm Stakes
Jebel Musa made an early move, winning the grade three Elm Stakes at Sapporo. Yasunari Iwata was aboard the winner to complete the 1,700-meter trip in 1 minute 43 seconds on fast dirt track.
Grape Brandy finished a neck behind the winner in second with A Shin Moreover finishing another 1 1/4-length back in third.
Jebel Musa is a 5-year-old bay horse by Agnes Tachyon out of Abyla, by Rock of Gibraltar.

Cross Krieger claims Leopard S victory


Cross Krieger took an outstanding command in the stretch to win the Leopard Stakes under Yasunari Iwata at Niigata on Sunday. He won the grade three 1,800-meter race in 1 minute 51.90 second on the fast dirt track.
A 3/4-length behind, Danon Liberty finished second with another 1 3/4-length away Tamano Brunette third.
Cross Krieger is a 3-year-old bay colt by Admire Aura out of Big Queen, by Brian's Time.

Azuma Shuttle wins Kokura Kinen
Azuma Shuttle displayed a superb turn of foot in the stretch, winning the grade three Kokura Kinen in 1 minute 58 seconds at Kokura over the 2,000-meter turf course on Sunday. The winning rider was Fuma Matsuwaka, who registered the first grade victory.
Beruf got second, a 1 1/4-length behind, with Win Primera another neck further back third.
Azuma Shuttle is a 4-year-old bay colt by Zenno Rob Roy out of the Maruzensky mare Blessing.

Bel Canto romps Summer Dash


Bel Canto made a superb dance at the front, winning the IBIS Summer Dash at Niigata Race Course on Sunday. Mirco Demuro rode her to cover the straight 1,000-meter distance in 54.10 seconds. A 2-length behind, Symboli Disco came second with another nose back Earth Sonic third.
Bel Canto is a 4-year-old chestnut filly by Sakura Bakushin O out of Celebrar, by Boston Harbor.

Meisho Suzanna first grade success in Queen Stakes
Meisho Suzanna claimed the first grade victory when she won the grade three Queen Stakes at Sapporo on Sunday. Daisaku Matsuda's steered Meisho Suzanna just got up at the line, winning the 1,800-meter race in 1 minute 47.10 seconds. Red Reveur came second, a neck behind, with Illuminance finishing another 1 1/4-length back in third.
Meisho Suzanna is a 6-year-old bay mare by Agnes Dital out of Green Olive, by Sunday Silence.
