A Shin Hikari early favorite for Tenno Sho Autumn


As of Saturday, A Shin Hikari has been installed as the 4.1(31-10) favorite for Sunday's Tenno Sho Autumn at Tokyo. Lovely Day was the 4.3(33-10) second favorite followed by Decipher 8.2(36-5) and Ambitious 8.6(38-5).
The post time for the Tenno Sho Autumn will be at 3:40 p.m. on Japan ST.

Denko Ange upset victory in Artemis


Outsider Denko Ange got past Major Emblem near the line to win the grade two Artemis Stakes for 2-year-old fillies at Tokyo on Saturday. Hironobu Tanabe rode the winning filly to complete the 1,600-meter trip in 1 minute 34.10 seconds on firm ground.
A neck behind, Major Emblem finished second with another 1 1/2-length back Crocosmia third.
Denko Ange is a 2-year-old dark bay filly by Meisho Samson out of Denko Lucke, by Marienbard.

Albiano(USA) takes Swan Stakes
Albiano(USA) produced a sensational late stride, winning the grade two Swan Stakes at Kyoto on Saturday. The filly won it under Yuichi Shibayama by a 1 1/4-length from Fiero in 1 minute 20.20 seconds over 1,400 meters on firm. Third was, another 3/4-length behind, Omega Vendetta. 
Albiano(USA) is a 3-year-old bay filly by Harlan's Holiday out of Antics, by Unbridled.

Stage set for 2015 Tenno Sho Autumn


A total of 18 horses have been entered to the Tenno Sho Autumn on Sunday at Tokyo Race Coruse.

Lovely Day, has enjoyed good season with five grade victories, the Kyoto Daishoten is the lastest success, can contend against these rivals.
A Shin Hikari; strong front-runner who won the Mainichi Okan in the similar strong company, will go into the front again.
Isla Bonita; third in the Mainichi Okan last outing, will take a good position from start.
Shonan Pandora; comes off victory in the All Comers, faces against the tougher company.
Decipher; second in the Mainichi Okan, has yet to make a big impact on the grade one event, but  has shown good performances on his recent runs.
Ambitious; one of the top 3-year-old colts who fininished sixth in the Mainichi Okan where he broke badly, could get a better run this time.
Spielberg; well-beaten in the Mainichi Okan, won this contest last year.
Satono Crown; third in the Japanese Derby earlier this season, faces the older company for the first time and will be the biggest test.
One and Only; sixth in the Kyoto Daishoten, can contend against these rivals.

Kitasan Black takes Kikuka Sho


Kitasan Black, ridden by Hiroshi Kitamura, came out of the crowd in the final stage to win the Kikuka Sho(Japanese St. Leger) at Kyoto on Sunday. Kitamura forced the colt to squeeze between Musee Alien and Lia Fail before going into the front, and then denied challenge by Real Steel. The final time for the 3,000-meter turf trip was 3 minutes 3.90 seconds.
A neck behind, Real Steel finished second with another 1/2-length behind Lia Fail third.

Kitasan Black, owned by Ono Shoji and trained by H. Shimizu, has now won five in seven starts with more than 292 million jpn yen in career earnings. The 3-year-old bay colt by Black Tide out of Sugar Heart, by Sakura Bakushin O, was bred by Yanagawa Bokujo.


Danon Platina wins Fuji S
Danon Platina won by a nekc from Satono Aladdin in Saturday's Fuji Stakes at Tokyo. Third was Logotype, a 1 1/4-length behind the runner-up.
Masayoshi Ebina rode the winner with the final time of 1 minute 32.70 seconds over 1,600 meters on firm ground.
Danon Platina is a 3-year-old grey colt by Deep Impact out of Badeelah, by Unbridled's Song.

Mikki Queen captures second filly classic


Mikkin Queen captured the second filly classic of the year as she won the grade one Shuka Sho under Suguru Hamanaka at Kyoto Race Course on Sunday. She came out of the crowd in the final stage en route to winning the 2,000-meter filly classic in an excellent time of 1 minute 56.90 seconds. 
A neck behind, Queens Ring came second with another 1 1/4-length away Maximum de Paris third.
Mikkin Queen, winner of the Japanese Oaks, has raced under the color of O. Noda and the condition of trainer Y. Ikee with record of 7-4-3-0 . With the Shuka Sho victory, her career earnings improved to more than 279 million jpn yen.
Bred by Norhtern Farm, Mikkin Queen is a 3-year-old bay filly by Deep Impact out of Musical Way, by Gold Way.

Nobori Diana finishes strongly in Fuchu Himba


Nobori Diana, ridden by Christophe Lemaire, finished strongly in the stretch to win the grade two Fuchu Himba Stakes in 1 minute 46.30 seconds over 1,800 meters on Tokyo good turf.
A 1 1/4-length behind, Smart Layer finished second with another head further back Cafe Brilliant third.
Nobori Diana is a 5-year-old chestnut mare by French Deputy out of Starry Romance, by Sunday Silence.

Lovely Day triumphs Kyoto Daishoten


Lovely Day, the favorite of 10-horse field, squeezed between horses in the final stage to win the grade two Kyoto Daishoten at Kyoto Race Course on Monday. The 5-year-old horse covered the 2,400-meter race under Yuga Kawada in 2 minutes 23.60 seconds on firm ground.
Sounds of Earth came second, a 1 1/4-length behind, with Curren Mirotic finishing another 1/2-length back in third.
Lovely Day is a dark bay horse by King Kamehameha out of Popcorn Jazz, by Dance in the Dark.


Best Warrior(USA) gains second Nanbu Hai victory
Heavy favorite Best Warrior(USA) gained the Nanbu Hai victory in second consecutive years as he won the NAR grade one 1,600-meter race in 1 munte 36.80 seconds on the Morioka good track on Monday. The winning rider was Yuichi Fukunaga.
Best Warrior took the lead 200 meters from home before getting up to the winning post.
A 2-length behind, Tagano Tonnerre finished second with another nose back Wonder Acute third.
Best Warrior, bred by Buck Pond Farm Inc., is a 5-year-old horse by Majestice Warrior out of Flirtatious Miss, by Mr. Greeley.

A Shin Hikari wins Mainichi by leading all the way


A Shin Hikari led from start to finish in winning the grade two Mainichi Okan in a strong field of 13  at Tokyo on Sunday. Yutaka Take rode the winner to complete the 1,800-meter trip in 1 minute 45.60 seconds.
A 1 1/4-length behind, Decipher finished second with another neck away Isla Bonita third.

A Shin Hikari is a 4-year-old grey colt by Deep Impact out of Catalina, by Storm Cat.

Straight Girl storms home in Sprinters


Straight Girl flew post the rivals at the last minute, winning the Sprinters Stakes at Nakayama on Sunday. Keiba Tosaki rode the winner to stop the clock in 1 minute 8.10 seconds for the final time of the 1,200-meter trip.
Sakura Gospel finished second, a 3/-4-length behin, with another neck back Ukiyono Kaze third followed by Mikki Isle fourth.

Straight Girl, a 6-year-old mare by Fuji Kiseki out of the Taiki Shuttle mare Never Period, has now gained the second grade one victory of the season following the Victoria Mile.

Awardee(USA) romps Sirius Stakes


Awardee(USA), ridden by Yutaka Take, rallied on the stretch to win the grade three 2,000-meter Sirius Stakes in 2 minutes 4.60 seconds on fast track. A 3-length behind, Danon Liberty finished second with another head away Namura Victor third.

Awardee, a 5-year-old bay horse by Jungle Pocket out of the Sunday Silence mare Heavenly Romance, has now registered two straight victories after switching to dirt surface.

2015 Sprinters Stakes preview


Active Minoru:
Triumphed the g2 Centaur Stakes last time by leading all the way. Another big run is possible.
Ukiyono Kaze:
Came from behind to win the g3 Keeneland Cup last time out. First appearance at g1.
Uliuli:
Second in the Centaur Stakes last time. Performed well after switching to shorter trips. 
Straight Girl:
Winner of the g1 Victoria Mile. Second in this contest last year. Finished a close fourth in the Centaur Stakes last time. 1,200 meters is likely to be her best trip.
Hakusan Moon:
Ran exclusively a shorter distance. Attempts to recover from disappointing in the Centaur Stakes.
Bel Canto:
Comes into this race off a couple of grade scores. The g3 Kitakyushu Kinen victory is her latest effort. 
Mikki Isle:
Makes his first start since finishing far behind in the g1 Yasuda Kinen. 1,200 meters may be his best trip, but prefers firm ground.
