Big Arthur wins Takamatsunomiya Kinen in record time

Big Arthur, with Yuichi Fukunaga on his back for the first time, sailed behind the leading group early on, and then came out a strong run down the final stretch to win the Takamatsunomiya Kinen in the record time of 1 minute 6.70 seconds for the Chukyo 1,200-meter turf course.
A 3/4-length behind, Mikki Isle came second with Albiano(USA) third, another 1 3/4-length behind.
Fukunaga, who has now ridden the second Takamatsunomiya Kinen winner, said, "The race worked out perfectly, so he had a smooth run. We took a good position behind the leading horses who were going well. In the stretch, the horse in front of us was still going well, but he managed to get past him at the end."

Trained by K. Fujioka and owned by A. Nakatsuji, Big Arthur has now won seven of his 11 races with more than 239 million jp yen in career earnings. Bamboo Stud was the breeder of Big Arthuer, a 5-year-old bay horse by Sakura Bakushin O out of Siyabona, by Kingmambo.
