Jeweler storms home in Oka Sho

Jeweler came from far off the pace to win the Oka Sho(Japanese 1000 Guineas) as third favorite in a thrilling photo finish at Hanshin on Sunday afternoon. She won it by a nose from Sinhalite with another 1 3/4-length back At the Seaside third. Heavy favorite Major Emblem, who struggled in the crowd down the final stretch, finished fourth, another 1/2-length behind. The final time for the 1,600-meter on firm ground was 1 minute 33.40 seconds.
Sinhalite pulled away from the rest at around 200 meters from home and looked to win the race. But Mirco Demuro-driven Jeweler rallied on the outside to collar Sinhalite at the finish line.

Trained at Ritto by K. Fujioka and owned by Y. Aoyama, Jeweler finished two firsts and two seconds in his four career starts with more than 155 million jpn yen in career earnings.
Bred by Shadai Farm, Jeweler is a 3-year-old bay filly by Victoire Pisa out of Baldwina, by Pistolet Bleu.
