Favorite wins Japanese Oaks


Sinhalite revenged a narrow defeat in the Oka Sho(Japanese 1000 Guineas) as she won the Japanese Oaks(Yushun Himba) as the 2.0 favorite on Sunday, May 21 at Tokyo Racecourse.
Kenichi Ikezoe forced Sinhalite to squeeze between horses on the middle in the late stage, winning the 2,400-meter filly classic in 2 minutes 25 seconds flat on firm ground.
Cecchino was second, a neck behind, with Biche another 1/2-length back third followed by Jealousy fourth and Peptide Supple fifth in the field of 18.

Trained at Ritto by S. Ishizaka and owned by Carrot Farm, Sinhalite has now recorded four wins of her five races with more than 233 million jpn yen in career earnings.
Northern Racing was the breeder of Sinhalite, a 3-year-old dark bay by Deep Impact out of Singhalese, by Singspiel.
