Kitasan Black leads all the way in Tenno Sho Spring

Kitasan Black led the all the way to win the Tenno Sho Spring in thrilling photo finish this afternoon at Kyoto Racecourse. Before a nose victory, he had to deny challenge by Curren Mirotic, who finished a 1 1/4-length in front of Cheval Grand in second. Race favorite Gold Actor finished a disappointing 12th. The final time for the 3,200-meter distance was 3 minutes 15.30 seconds on firm ground.
Winning rider Yutaka Take, who has now ridden the seventh Tenno Sho Spring winner, said, "the pace went as I planned. He fought back at the end." 
Trained by H. Shimizu and owned by Ono Shoji, Kitasan Black has now recorded six wins of his 10 races with more than 536 million jpn yen in career earnings.
Yanagawa Bokujo was the breeder of Kitasan Black, a 4-year-old bay colt by Black Tide out of Sugar Heart, by Sakura Bakushin O.
