Marialite becomes Takarazuka Heroine

Eighth favorite Marialite made up grounds on the final bend under Masayoshi Ebina to win the Takarazuka Kinen at Hanshin Sunday. She became the first female horse to win the grade one race since Sweep Tosho won it in 2005. A neck behind, race favorite Duramente finished second with another nose back Kitasan Black. The final time for the 2,200-meter turf race was 2 minutes 12.80 seconds.

Duramente may get hurt in his leg after passing the finish line. He left the course on the horse trailor.

Trained by T. Kubota and owned by Carrot Farm, Marialite has now recorded six wins of her 17 races with more than 407 million jpn yen in career earnings.
Northern Farm was the breeder of Marialite, a 5-year-old dark bay mare by Deep Impact out of Chrysoprace, by El Condor Pasa.
