Race favorite Maurice wins Tenno Sho Autumn


Maurice proved he can stay the trip of 2,000 meters as he won the grade one Tenno Sho Autumn  at Tokyo Sunday afternoon. In the hands of international jockey Ryan Moore, the 5-year-old horse got flied on the outside down the stretch to win the traditional race in 1 minute 59.30 seconds on firm ground. A 1 1/2-length behind, Real Steel was second with another 1 1/4-length back Staphanos third. A Shin Hikari was 12th finish of the 15 runners.

Trained by N.Hori and owned by K.Yoshida, Maurice has now won 10 of his 17 races with more than 862 million jpn yen in career earnings. Togawa Bokujo(Farm) was the breeder of Maurice, by Screen Hero out of Mejiro Frances, by Carnegie.

The Hong Kong Cup or Hong Kong Mile will be his farewell race.

Satono Aladdin finishes strongly in Swan S


Satono Aladdin had a strong finishing kick to win the grade two Swan Stakes at Kyoto Saturday afternoon. Satono Lupin came, a 1 1/4-length behind, second with another nose back A Shin Spartan(USA) third. Yuga Kawada piloted the winner to cover the 1,400-meter distance in 1 minute 20.70 seconds on firm ground.
Satono Aladdin is a 5-year-old bay horse by Deep Impact out of Magic Storm, by Storm Cat.

Lys Gracieux impressive run in Artemis S


Lys Gracieux made up the ground gamely on the turn to win the grade three Artemis Stakes for 2-year-old fillies at Tokyo Saturday afternoon. The Heart's Cry filly won the 1,600-meter race in 1 minute 35.50 seconds under Yutaka Take. A 1/2-length behind, Flawless Magic was second followed by Sigrun third.
Lys Gracieux is a 2-year-old dark bay filly out of Liliside, by American Post.

Stage set for 2016 Tenno Sho Autumn


A total of 15 horses have been entered for the grade one Tenno Sho Autumn, scheduled to be run on October 30 at Tokyo Racecourse.

A Shin Hikari, strong front-running individual who became a world famous runner with gr.1 victories in France and Hong Kong, had a good draw of post 1. He runs well when fresh.
Mile champion horse Maurice will stretch out to 2,000 meters after he had a good performance at the same distance at Sapporo. He drew post 8.
Rouge Buck, coming into this classics off excellent performances in the male grade company last two outing, drew post 9.
Ambitious and Staphanos, who finished, respectively, second and fifth in the Mainichi Okan behind Rouge Buck, drew post 3 and 14 respectively.
Multiple grade one winner Lovely Day tries to come back on the winning trail. He drew post 15.

Satono Diamond clinches Kikuka Sho title


Satono Diamond clinched the 3-year-old classic title as he won the grade one Kikuka Sho at Kyoto Sunday afternoon. Christophe Lemaire on Satono Diamond pulled away from the rest in the middle of the home stretch, winning it by a 2 1/2-length in 3 minute 3.30 seconds over 3,000 meters on firm ground. Rainbow Line was a nose better than Air Spinel to finish second. Another neck behind, Dee Majesty came fourth.

Trained by Y.Ikee and owned by H.Satomi, Satono Diamond has now improved his career record to 7-5-1-1 with more than 371 million jpn yeb in career earnings. Northern Racing was the breeder of the 3-year-old bay colt, by Deep Impact out of Malpensa, by Orpen.

Young Man Powers in Fuji Stakes


Young Man Power ran behind the leading group to win the grade three 1,600-meter Fuji Stakes under Keita Tosaki at Tokyo Saturday. He won it in 1 minute 34 seconds flat by a 3/4-length from Isal Bonita. Another 1/2-length behind, Danon Platina came third.
Young Man Power is a 4-year-old colt by Snitzel out of Snapshot, by Sunday Silence.

Vivlos Shuka Sho heroine


Vivlos became a Shuka Sho heroine as she won the grade one filly classic on Sunday afternoon at Kyoto. Under the excellent control of Yuichi Fukunaga, Vivlos got up just in time to win the 2,000-meter race in 1 minute 58.60 seconds by a 1/2-length from Pearl Code with another  1/2-length back Kaiserball third. Trained by Y.Tomomichi and owned by K.Sasaki, Vivlos has now won three of her seven races with more than 125 million jpn yen in career earnings. Northren Racing was bred the 3-year-old brown filly, by Deep Impact out of the Machiavellian mare Halwa Sweet.

Having taken a good position, Queens Ring got post Magic Time in the very final stage to win the grade two Fuchu Himba Stakes on Saturday afternoon at Tokyo. In the hands of Mirco Demuro, she won the 1,800-meter race in 1 minute 46.40 seconds by a 1 1/2-length from Magic Time. Third was, another 1/2-length behind, Smart Layer.

Rieno Tesoro(USA) romps Edelweiss Sho


Rieno Tesoro(USA) drew away from the rest with 200 meters to go en route to winning the NAR grade three Edelweiss Sho at Mombetsu Thursday night. The USA-bred filly won it by a 5-length under control of Hayato Yoshida. Up to You came second with Pink Dogwood another head back third. The final time for the 1,200-meter dirt trip was 1 minute 12.80 seconds.
Trained at Miho by R. Takei and bred by Oak Bluff Stables LLC, Rieno Tesoro is a 2-year-old chestnut filly by Speightstown out of Akilina, by Langfuhr.

Copano Rickey third straight NAR g1 victory in Nanbu Hai


Copano Rickey gained the third straight grade one victory as he finished first in the NAR grade one Nanbu Hai under Hironobu Tanabe at Morioka Monday afternoon. Having come into the Morioka grade one event off victories in the Teio Sho and Kashiwa Kinen, Copano Rickey took a command with 200 meters remaining and went on to win the 1,600-meter Nanbu Hai by a 1 3/4-length in the course record of 1 minute 33.50 seconds. Best Warrior(USA) finished a 3-length before Hokko Tarumae in second. 
Trained at JRA Ritto by A. Muayama, Copano Rickey is a 6-year-old chestnut horse by Gold Allure out of Copano Nikita, by Timber Country.

Favorite wins Kyoto Daishoten


Race favorite Kitasan Black, having run at second spot, took a lead in the mid-stretch to win the grade two Kyoto Daishoten at Kyoto Monday. Admire Deus was, a neck behind, third. Another 3/4-length behind, Lovely Day was third. Yutaka Take rode the winner to complete the 2,400-meter distance in 2 minutes 25.50 seconds on firm ground.
Kitasan Black, a 4-year-old colt by Black Tide out of the Sakura Bakushin O mare Sugar Heat, will be heading for the Japan Cup.

Filly triumphs in Mainichi Okan


Rouge Buck, the only filly in the 12-horse filed, produced a sensational stretch run to win the grade two Mainichi Okan at Tokyo Sunday.
It was a thrilling battle by Rouge Buck and Ambitious in the last 400 meters. Rouge Buck was the best stride of the two. A neck behind, Ambitious was second. Another 3-length behind, Historical finished third by coming from the dead last. Rouge Buck with Keita Tosaki up clocked in 1 minute 46.60 seconds for the final time of the 1,800-meter distance.
Rouge Buck is a 4-year-old bay filly by Manhattan Cafe out of Ginger Punch, by Awesome Again.

Red Falx sensational late charge in Sprinters Stakes


Third favorite Red Falx just got up in the nick of time to win the grade one Sprinters Stakes at Nakayama Racecourse Sunday. Mikkin Isle, who led the field from start, finished second, a head behind. Another neck behind, Solveig was third place. Heavy favorite Big Arthur failed to find a clear run in the stretch to finish 12th.
Mirco Demuro was aboard the winner to cover the 1,200-meter distance in 1 minute 7.60 seconds on firm ground.

Mask Zorro(USA) led the 11-horse field and went all the way to win the grade three Sirius Stakes at Hanshin on Sturday. Before a neck victory, he had to deny challenges by Pionero and Apollo Kentuckey(USA). Second was Pionero, who finished a head before Apollo Kentuckey(USA).
