Diamond shines again in Arima


Having won the Kikuka Sho(Japanese St.Leger) last month, Satono Diamond gained a thrilling victory in the Arima Kinen at Nakayama on Sunday.
Kitasan Black with Gold Actor running right behind him was heading for the finish line down the stretch, and Satono Diamond emerged on the far outside. The best running speed of the three in the closing stage was Satono Diamond, who rushed into the winning post ahead of the other two. Christophe Lemaire on Satono Diamond won it by a neck from Kitasan Black in 2 minutes 32.60 seconds for the 2,500-meter trip.  Gold Actor was, another 1/2-length away, third. 
Satono Diamond has raced under the color of H. Satomi and the saddle of Y.Ikee and now won six of his eight races with more than 674 million jpn yen.
Bred by Northern Racing, Satono Diamond is a 3-year-old bay colt by Deep Impact out of Malpensa, by Orpen.
