Sound True storms home in Champions C


Sound True, trained by N.Takagi and owned by H.Yamada put up a sensational stretch run in winning the Champions Cup at Chukyo on Sunday.
Awardee(USA) got past Asukano Roman and looked like a sure winner in the deep stretch, but Takuya Ono forced Sound True ahead in the final effort to win by a neck from Awardee(USA) with Asukano Roman, another 1/2-length away, third.
As the field entered the stretch, Sound True was second to last. From there, he showed an outstanding turn of foot to make up a lot of grounds. The final time for the 1,800-meter trip was 1 minute 50.10 seconds on standard surface.
Sound True has now won nine in 38 career starts with more than 455 million jpn yen in career earnings.
Bred by Okada Studa, Sound True is a 6-year-old gelding by French Deputy out of Kyoei Truth, by Fuji Kiseki.
