Nikkei Sho won by Sciacchetra


Sciacchetra gained the first grade glory as he won the Nikkei Sho under Hironobu Tanabe at Nakayama on Saturday.
Tanabe settled his horse down, far off the pace, early on and he moved up gradually on the final bend before producing a great burst of finishing stride.
Second was, a 3/4-length behind, Miraieno Tsubasa with another head away Admire Deus third. Race favorite Gold Actor finished fifth.
The final time for the 2,500-meter distace was 2 minutes 32.80 seconds.
Sciacchetra, who improved his career record to 6-4-1-1, is a 4-year-old brown colt by Manhattan Cafe out of Samaaha, by Singspiel.
