Al Ain wins thrilling Satsuki Sho


The Satsuki Sho(Japanese 2000 Guineas) was won in thrilling finish at Nakayama Sunday afternoon by ninth favorite Al Ain, winner by a neck from Persian Knight, who was a 3/4-length ahead of third place Danburite. 
With 200 meters to go, a bunch of horses were headed toward tne line. Persian Knight then took a lead on the rails, but Kohei Matsuyama-steered Al Ain quickened wide of Persian Knight to get up in the final stride.
The race was run in the Satuki Sho record time of 1 minute 57.80 seconds on firm ground.

Al Ain, trained by Y. Ikee and owned by Sunday Racing Co. Ltd., has now won four of his five raced with more than 182 million jpn yen in career earnings.
Northern Farm was the breeder of the 3-year-old bay colt, by Deep Impact out of Dubai Majesty, by Essence of Dubai.
