Favorite lands Osaka Hai


Race favorite Kitasan Black won an upgraded grade one Osaka Hai in great style at Hanshin Racecourse on Sunday.
Yutaka Take settled Kitasan Black down at third spot with Maltese Apogee in front. Making the final tune for home, he moved up gamely.
Outside 200 meters out, he went right away from the rest with a brilliant finishing speed.
Staphanos performed a strong closing run to finish second, a 3/4-length behind. Another 1/2-length away, Yamakatsu Ace was third with Makahiki fourth, one and a half lengths behind.
Kitasan Black, whose career record is now nine firsts, two seconds and three thirds in 15 starts, races under the color of Ono Shoji and the saddle of H. Shimizu. His career earnings improved to more than 1.1 billion jpn yen.
Kitasan Black, bred by Yanagawa Farm, is a 5-year-old bay colt by Black Tide out of Sugar Heart, by Sakura Bakushin O.
