Kitasan Black wins Spring Tenno Sho in record time

Race favorite Kitasan Black won the Spring edition of the Tenno Sho under Yutaka Take for two consecutive years at Kyoto on Sunday.

Yamakatsu Raiden made the running with a great pace, while Kitasan Black was far behind the leader at second place, followed by a big parade of horses. 
On the final turn for the second time, Take forced Kitasan Black to make a move, taking the lead from fading Yamakatsu Raiden. From there, no rivals could range up alongside Kitasan Black, who reached the finish in the course record time of 3 minutes 12.50 seconds.
Cheval Grand, a 1 1/4-length behind, ran on to finish second, a neck in front of Satono Diamond. Another neck away, Admire Deus was third.

Owned by Ono Shoji and trained by H. Shimizu, Kitasan Black has now won 10 of his 16 races with more than 1.3 billion jpn yen in career eanings. Yanagawa Farm was the breeder of Kitasan Black, a 5-year-old bay horse by Black Tide out of Sugar Heart, by Sakua Bakushin O.
