Great Pearl overwhelming Heian S victory


Great Pearl extended his winning streak to five as he gained an overwhelming victory in the grade three Heian Stakes at Kyoto Saturday afternoon.
Yuga Kawada's driven Great Pearl, making up a lot of ground on the final bend, took a lead with more than 200 meters to go, winning the 1,900-meter race in 1 minute 55.70 seconds on fast track.
Chrysolite was second, a 4-length behind, with another 1/2-length behind Meiner Baika third.
Great Pearl, who remains undefeated after switching to dirt surface, is a 4-year-old bay colt by King Kamehameha out of Fortune Word, by Dehere.
