Frontier takes good position to win Niigata Nisai S


Frontier denied challenge from Cordierite and Tenku in winning the grade three Niigata Nisai Stakes for 2-year-olds at Niigata on Sunday.
Cordierite finished a 3/4-length behind the winner in second. Another head away, Tenku finished third. The winning rider was Yasunari Iwata. The 1,600-meter race was run in 1 minute 34.60 seconds on firm ground.
Frontier is a 2-year-old chestnut colt by Daiwa Major out of Grace Land, by Tony Bin.


Epoisss upsets Keeneland Cup victory


Epoisses produced a strong finishing kick to win the Keeneland Cup at Sapporo on Sunday. A neck behind, Solveig came second with Nac Venus, a 1/2-length behind, third.
Christophe Lemaire manipulated the winner to run in the grade three 1,200-meter race in 1 minute 9 seconds flat.
Epoisses is a 9-year-old bay gelding by Falbrav out of Manic Sunday, by Sunday Silence.

Sakura Empereur takes Sapporo Kinen


Sakura Empereur pulled away from the rest with about 100 meters from home to win the Sapporo Kinen at Sapporo Racecourse on Sunday. He won it by a neck from Narita Hurricane with another 1 1/2-length away Yamakatsu Ace third. 
Masayoshi Ebina guided the winner to cover the 2,000-meter race in 2 minutes 0.40 second.
Sakura Empereur is a 6-year-old chestnut horse King Kamehameha out of Sakura Mega, by Sunday Silence.

Diana Halo wins Kitakyushu Kinen


Diana Halo, ridden by Yutaka Take, stalked the pace to win the Kitakyushu Kinen at Kokura Racecourse on Sunday. A 3/4-length behind, Narita Star One finished second with Rhein Spirit third, a 1/2-length behind. The race was run in 1 minute 7.50 seconds over 1,200 meters on turf.
It was the fourth straight win in a row for Diano Halo, a 4-year-old dark bay filly by King Halo out of Yamakatsu Seiren, by Grass Wonder.

Maltese Apogee coast-to-coast victory in Sekiya


Maltese Apogee set the pace under Tomoharu Bushizawa to win the grade three Sekiya Kinen at Niigata Racecourse on Sunday. Win Gagnant finished a 1 1/4-length behind the winner in second. Another neck away, Danon Liberty finished third.
The race was run in 1 minute 32.20 seconds over 1,600 meters on turf.
Maltese Apogee is a 5-year-old bay horse by Goshawk Ken out of Maltese Heat, by Old Trieste.

London Town wins Elm Stakes in record time


London Town, ridden by Yasunari Iwata, got past T M Jinsoku and Dream Kirari(USA)in winning the Elm Stakes in the record time of 1 minute 40.90 seconds at Sapporo Racecourse over 1,700 meters on dirt on Sunday.
A 1/2-length behind, T M Jinsoku came second with Dream Kirari(USA) third, a nose behind.
London Town is a 4-year-old bay colt by Kane Hekili out of Fairy Banyan, by Honour and Glory.

Rose Princedom upsets Leopard S


Rose Princedom, the 11th favorite at odds of 66.3(653-10), ran behind the leading pack to win the grade three Leopard Stakes at Niigata Racecourse on Sunday. A 1 1/4-length behind, Salsa Dione was second with Epicharis third, a 3/4-length behind.
Takuya Kowata rode the winner to cover the 1,800-meter distance in 1 minute 52.90 seconds on dirt track.
Rose Princedom is a 3-year-old brown colt by Roses in May out of Christian Pearl, by Symboli Kris S.

Exciting finish in Kokura Kinen


It was an exciting finish in the Kokura Kinen at Kokura Racecourse on Sunday when Tatsu Gogeki and San Martin came cross the line at the same level. The winner went to Tatsu Gogeki, who beat San Marting by a nose in photo finish. Third was, a 3-length behind, Fermezza. The winning jockey was Mirco Demuro. The grade three 2,000-meter race was run in 1 minute 57.60 seconds on firm ground.
Tatsu Gogeki is a 5-year-old bay horse by Marvelous Sunday out of Nishino Plemeria, by Singspiel.
