Outsider rallies in Sirius Stakes


Meisho Sumitomo, the 11th favorite at odds of 74.5(366-5), got up just in time to win the Sirius Stakes at Hanshin on Saturday. Dragon Barows finished a neck behind the winner in second. Another 3/4-length back, Pionero was third.
Yoshihiro Furukawa rode Meisho Sumitomo in the grade three 2,000-meter race to travel the distance in 2 minutes 3.90 seconds on fast track.
Meisho Sumitomo is a 6-year-old bay horse by Gold Allure out of Mugen, by Adjudicating.

A field of 16 horses has been drawn for the Sprinters Stakes at Nakayama Racecourse on Sunday, October 1.

Rouge Buck strong finish in All Comers


Rouge Buck, ridden by Hiroshi Kitamura, came out with a strong stride on the rail to win the Sankei Sho All Comers at Nakayama Racecourse on Sunday.
Staphanos was, a 1/2-length behind, second with Tanta Alegria third, another neck back. The final time of the 2,200-meter race was 2 minutes 13.80 seconds.
Rouge Buck, who has now six of her 16 races, is a 5-year-old bay mare by Manhattan Cafe out of Ginger Punch, by Awesome Again.

Rey de Oro wins easily Kobe Shimbun Hai


Rey de Oro, having run at fourth spot, drew away from the rest at about 100 meters out to win the Kobe Shimbun Hai at Hanshin Racecourse on Sunday. A 2-length behind, Kiseki was second with another 3/4-length away Satono Arthur third. Christophe Lemaire guided the winner to complete the 2,400-meter distance in 2 minutes 24.60 seconds on firm ground.
Rey De Oro,who has now won five of his six races, is a 3-year-old bay colt by King Kamehameha out of La Dorada, by Symboli Kris S. He will be heading for the Japan Cup.

Mikki Swallow romps St.Lite Kinen


Mikki Swallow, ridden by Norihiro Yokoyama, got past Al Ain in the deep stretch to win the St.Lite Kinen at Nakayama Racecourse on Monday.
A 1 3/4-length behind, Al Ain finished second with another 1 1/4-length away Satono Chronicle third.
The 2,200-meter grade two race was run in 2 minutes 12.70 seconds on firm ground.
Mikki Swallow, who has now won three of his six races, is a 3-year-old bay colt by Tosen Homareboshi out of Madre Bonita, by Jungle Pocket.

Rabbit Run(USA) comes from behind in Rose S


Rabbit Run(USA), having run far off the pace early on, rallied in the stretch to win the grade two Rose Stakes at Hanshin Racecourse on Sunday.
Kawakita Enka led the field of 18 to finished second, a 1 1/4-length behind. Third was, another 3/4-length away, Lys Grtacieux.
Ryuji Wada rode the winner to cover the 1,800-meter distance in 1 minute 45.5 seconds on good ground.
Rabbit Run(USA), bred by Alexander Groves Matz LLC in USA, is a 3-year-old chestnut filly by Tapit out of Amelia, by Dixieland Band. She has now won three of her 5 races.

The Asahi Hai St. Lite Kinen, one of the major preps for the Kikuka Sho(Japanese St.Leger), will be run on Monday, September 18 at Nakayama Racecourse.

Grand Silk storms home in Keisei Hai AH


Grand Silk stormed home to win the Keisei Hai Autumn Handicap at Nakayama Racecourse on Sunday. Hironobu Tanabe on Grand Silk pulled away from the rest at around 200 meters from home, getting the post in 1 minute 31.60 seconds over 1,600 meters on firm ground.
Garibaldi finished, a 1 3/4-length behind, second with Danon Liberty third, another neck away.
The field was reduced to 15 because of Danon Platina's scratch.

Grand Silk is a 5-year-old bay horse by Stay Gold out of Le Cirque, by Dynaformer.

Fine Needle superb run in Centaur Stakes


Mirco Demuro's piloted Fine Needle chased the pace at third spot to win the Centaur Stakes in 1 minute 7.50 seconds over 1,200 meters at Hanshin turf course on Sunday.
A 1 1/4-length behind, Rhein Meteor came second with another neck away Dance Director third.
Fine Needle is a 4-year-old bay colt by Admire Moon out of Needlecraft, by Mark of Esteem.

Exciting finish in Shion Stakes


The Shion Stakes for 3-year-old fillies was an exciting finish when Deirdre, Caribbean Gold and Port Vendres reached the post at the same level. The winner went to Deirdre, who beat Caribbean Gold by a nose in photo finish. Another nose away, Port Vendres was third. The winning rider was Yasunari Iwata. The 2,000-meter race was run in 1 minute 59.80 seconds at Nakayama Racecourse on firm ground.
Deirdre is a 3-year-old bay filly by Harbinger out of Reizend, by Special Week.

Tatsu Gogeki continues to perform well with Niigata victory


Tatsu Gogeki gained his second grade victory in a row as he won the Niigata Kinen at Niigata Racecouse on Sunday. Shinichiro Akiyama guided Tatsu Gogeki to chase the pace on their way to winning the grade three 2,000-meter race in 1 minute 57.90 seconds on firm ground. A neck behind, Asatra Emblem finished second with Kafuji Prince third, another nose away.
Tatsu Gogeki is a 5-year-old bay horse by Marvelous Sunday out of Nishino Plumeria, by Singspiel.

Asakusa Genki wins Kokura Nisai


Asakusa Genki(USA) got into front at around 200 meters out to win the Kokura Nisai Stakes under Yutaka Take at Kokura Racecourse on Sunday.
Second was, a 1 1/4-length behind, Iron Claw with another neck away Burning Pesca third. The grade three 1,200-meter race was run in 1 minute 9.10 seconds on firm ground.
The USA-bred Asakusa Genki is a 2-year-old bay colt by Stormy Atlantic out of Amelia, by Dixieland Band.

Rock This Town takes Sapporo Nisai


Rock This Town, ridden by Christophe Lemaire, ran behind the leading group to win the Sapporo Nisai Stakes at Sapporo Racecourse on Saturday afternoon.
Before a neck victory, she had to deny challenge by Fast Approach and Double Sharp, who finished second and third respectively.
The race was run in 1 minute 51.40 seconds over 1,800 meters on firm ground.
Rock This Town is a 2-year-old chestnut filly by Orfevre out of Stray Cat, by Storm Cat.
