Epoca d'Oro romps home in Satsuki Sho

In the hands of Keita Tosaki, Epoca d'Oro performed with a brilliant finishing speed, winning the Satsuki Sho at Nakayama on Sunday.
Epoca d'Oro ran fourth, a head of the big pack of horses, in the early race. Far up front, Aithon set the pace followed by Generale Uno and Jun Valerot. In the stretch, the first three were weakening, while Epoca d'Oro advanced swiftly. With about 100 meters to go, Epoca d'Oro took a lead and flashed past the post in 2:00.8. Sans Rival came from far behind to finish second, a 2-length behind. Another 1 3/4-length back, Generale Uno hung on to finish third followed by Stelvio fourth and Kitano Commandeur fifth.
Epoca d'Oro, trained by H.Fujiwara and owned by K.Hidaka Breeders Union, has now won three of his five races with more than 174 million jpn yen in career earnings.
T. Tagami was the breeder of Epoca d'Oro, a 3-year-old dark bay colt by Orfevre out of Daiwa Passion, by Forty Niner.
