Cadence Call rallies in Niigata Nisai S


Cadence Call, settling far off the pace early on, produced an explosive stretch run on the outside to win the Niigata Nisai Stakes at Niigata on Sunday. He won it by a neck from Unbroken with another nose back Stillness third. Shu Ishibashi rode the winner to travel the 1,600-meter race in 1:35.5.
Cadence Call, who has now recorded two wins in three starts, is a 2-year-old bay colt by Lord Kanaloa out of Inductee, by Heart's Cry.

Nac Venus coast-to-coast win in Keeneland C


Nac Venus set the pace to win the Keeneland Cup at Sapporo on Sunday. A 2 1/2-length behind, Danon Smash finished second with another neck away Peisha Felicita third.
Joao Moreira, who has shown sensational rides in Japan, steered the winner to get the wire in 1:09.4 over 1,200 meters on good ground.
Nac Venus is a 5-year-old brown mare by Daiwa Major out of Ready to Please, by More Than Ready.

Ares Barows takes Kitakyushu Kinen


Ares Barows, guided by Yuji Hashida, took an inside passage down the stretch to win the Kitakyushu Kinen at Kokura on Sunday. He won the 1,200-meter race in 1:06.6, defeating Daimei Princess by a 1 1/2-length. Another 1/2-length behind, Love Kampf was third.
Ares Barows, who had won the grade three CBC Sho prior to Kitakyushu Kinen, is a 6-year-old dark bay horse by Deep Impact out of Taisei Etoile, by Tony Bin.

Thrilling finish of Sapporo Kinen


A thrilling finish between the three horses, Sungrazer, Makahiki and Mozu Katchan, has been seen in the Sapporo Kinen at Sapporo on Sunday afternoon. The winner went to Sungrazer, who finished a nose before Makahiki with another head away Mozu Katchan. Yuichi Fukunaga rode the winner to get up to the wire in 2:01.1 over 2,000 meters on turf.
Sungrazer, who has now won seven of his 15 races, is a  4-year-old brown colt by Deep Impact out of Mantis Hunt, by Deputy Minister.

Rabbit Run(USA) romps Breeders' Gold Cup


Rabbit Run(USA) with Mirco Demuro up got past Princia Cometa in the upper stretch to win the Breeders' Gold Cup at Mombetsu on Thursday night. Princia Cometa, who set the pace, finished second, a 4-length behind the winner. Another 3-length back, Queen Mambo was third. The 2,000-meter race was run in 2:05.6.
Rabbit Run(USA), trained at JRA Ritto by K. Nakatake and bred in US by Alexander Groves Matz, LLC, is a 4-year-old chestnut filly by Tapit out of Amelia, by Dixieland Band.

Oken Believe takes Cluster Cup


Oken Believe stalked the pace by Nero to win the Cluster Cup at Morioka on Wednesday.
After a duel with Nero in the stretch, Oken Believe put her neck in front at the wire. Nero was second with Love Ballet third. Yuichi Kitamura rode the winner to travel the 1,200-meter dirt trip in 1:09.1.
Oken Believe, trained at JRA Ritto by T. Yasuda, is a 5-year-old grey mare by Kurofune out of Bisque Doll, by Sunday Silence.

A Shin Balancer(CAN) wins Summer Champion


A Shin Balancer(CAN) took a good position to win the NAR grade three Summer Champion at Saga on Tuesday. A 1/2-length behind, Blu Miracolo with another 1 1/2-length back Yoshio third.
Osamu Shimohara was aboard the winner to complete the 1,400-meter trip in 1:25.7.
Ex-JRA horse A Shin Balancer(CAN), trained at NAR Sonoda by M. Atarashi, is a 6-year-old grey horse by Ghostzapper out of Mayomast, by Mizzen Mast.

2018 Breeders' Gold Cup


The NAR grade three Breeders' Gold Cup for 3-year-olds and upward fillies and mares will be run on Thursday, August 16 at Mombetsu track. A total of 15 horses have been entered to the 2,000-meter dirt race.
JRA entries are Fontana Liri(post 2), Queen Mambo(post 5), Princia Cometa(post 6), Rabbit Run(USA)(post 11) and Harbin Mao(post 12).

Highland Peak wins Elm Stakes


Highland Peak, third in the early, took command in the final stretch to win the Elm Stakes at Sapporo on Sunday.
Dream Kirari(USA) finished a 1 1/4-length behind the winner in second. Another 2-length back, Mitsuba was third. Kazuo Yokoyama rode the winner to get the wire in 1 minute 42 seconds flat for 1,700 meters on dirt.
Highland Peak is a 4-year-old brown colt by Tosen Bright out of Highland Dance, by Zenno Rob Roy.

Primo Scene takes Sekiya Kinen as favorite


Primo Scene came from far behind in the stretch to win the grade three 1,600-meter Sekiya Kinen at Niigata on Sunday. She put her neck in front at the wire with final time of 1:31.6. One to One was second followed by A Shin Twinkle third.
Primo Scene is a 3-year-old brown filly by Deep Impact out of Mosheen, by Fastnet Rock.

Grimm coast-to-coast victory in Leopard S


Grimm made all the running to win the Leopard Stakes at Niigata on Sunday. Hiraboku la Tache finished a neck behind in second with another 3-length away Big Smoky third. Hiroyuki Uchida rode the winner to complete the 1,800-meter distance in 1 minute 52 seconds flat on dirt surface.
Grimm is a 3-year-old grey colt by Zenno Rob Roy out of Blanche Neige, by Sakura Bakushin O.

Triomphe wins Kokura Kinen in record time


Yutaka Take-driven Triomphe took a lead on the final turn, winning the Kokura Kinen in the course record of 1:56.9 over 2,000 meters at Kokura on turf on Sunday. A 3-length behind, Satono Chronicle was second with another neck away Mount Gold third.
Triomphe is a 4-year-old dark bay gelding by Turtle Bowl out of Mejiro Tonkinese, by Dance in the Dark.
