Gran Alegria romps Saudi Arabia Royal Cup

Gran Alegria broke badly, but she moved into second place before the final bend, and then her partner Christophe Lemaire took her into front in the mid-stretch en route to winning winning the Saudi Arabia at Tokyo on Saturday. She won the 1,600-meter race in 1 minute 34 seconds flat by a 3 1/2-length from De Gaulle. Third was, another length behind, Amati.
Gran Alegria, who remained undefeated in two starts, is a 2-year-old bay filly by Deep Impact out of Tapitsfly, by Tapit.
